I get great pleasure from searching the web for old cruisers with wooden hulls.
Here are pictures of some that I've found. These range in size from 35 feet to over 100 feet bow to stern. I've even
included some of the grand old yachts from early 20th century that are sometimes over 100 feet long, which are largely out
of most people's price ranges ($300,000 to $1,500,000 or more, depending on historic value). The 35 to 60 foot cruisers
on this page can go from $15,000 to around $60,000 (and up, depending on conditon, updates, etc.), which isn't too bad compared
to a beach house or mountain cabin. However, if I were to eventually (many, many years down the road) buy one it would
probably be a mid to late 1960's cruiser with a fiberglass hull, due to insurance and maintainence costs.

I almost bought a restorable one of these, but was too late with my offer. Probably a good thing. |
